A Gorgeous 19th Century Small Giltwood Compartmental Overmantel Mirror

Description: A gorgeous 19th Century giltwood tryptych compartmental overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and small proportions.  The finely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame of rectangular form is surmounted with an overhanging inverse breakfront stepped cornice pediment with applied sphere motif detail.  Raised above a stunningly decorated deep frieze depicting a fabulous Neoclassical figural scene of Apollo, his entourage, winged heralds, soldiers and a chariot pulled by lions flanked with acanthus leaf motif to the side panels, all beautifully hand carved in relief.  Raised above an arrangement of three compartmental bevelled mirror glass plates below with applied flowerhead paterae and foliate detailing, flanked with a pair of elegantly simple and and finely hand carved fluted pilaster columns, supported on shaped platform base.
