Description: A fabulous 19th Century giltwood pier or hall mirror of grand proportions and of exceptional quality. The mirror glass plate of oval form is set within a beautifully hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous bands of beaded row and lambs tongue decorative motif detail throughout. Surmounted with an elaborate centred pierced cartouche composition comprising of an arrangement of a scallop shell, c-scrolls, tied ribbon bows, ruffles and acanthus leaves flanked with richly trailing acanthus, foliate and flowerhead motif detail, finely hand carved in high relief, the apron features a further exquisite arrangement of centred acanthus leaves flanked with leaves and berries.
